Beer Wars, the Movie

March 9, 2009 by Latest, News

We speak a lot about the quality of American craft beers. When we started Drink American to inform people about the Belgweiser fiasco, we found that most beers that we thought were American turned out to be foreign owned.

This directed us further into understanding and appreciating American craft brewers and the challenges they face. We were not alone in our quest for information, apparently.

Beer Wars is an upcoming documentary about the clash between corporate beer companies and independent brewers. The movie is billed as an irreverent and comical journey through the underbelly of the American beer industry. Hmmm… might be more like the beer belly of the industry.

The film has director Anat Baron exploring the U.S. beer industry to ultimately find the truth behind the labels on our favorite beers. She goes behind the scenes of the daily battles and all out wars that dominate one of America’s favorite industries.

A digital one-night-only premiere hits theaters nationwide on Thursday, April 16th followed by commentary and discussion, but we can only imagine that after that we'll be able to find the flick itself on DVD or cable.
